Art Camp Brings Out The Picassos in Seri Mulia Sarjana School Students
Seri Mulia Sarjana School conducted a 2-day Art Camp on the 23rd and 24th of this month. A total of 105 campers composed of Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 students participated in the camp themed: “All Children Are Born Artists” a quote inspired by the famous artist, Picasso.
The idea behind the Art Camp is to provide students with a worthwhile experience during the school holiday as well as to create a relationship with Art for children who are interested in it.
Present during the opening ceremony were Seri Mulia Sarjana School’s principal and deputy principal, Sophia Lim and Cikgu Masjiah Bte Hj Metussin, respectively.
The objective of the Art Camp is to teach children how to draw, paint and create. Drawing and colouring skills were demonstrated to students as well as craft oriented activities like utility box making, photo frame, and door hanger making. The highlight of the camp was a visit to Tasek Lama Recreational Camp where students were encouraged to paint outdoor landscapes.
The camp ended with a reception and display of artwork to highlight the campers' creative accomplishments. Each activity was turned into a competion with students being awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Under the direction of skilled and thoughtful teachers from Seri Mulia Sarjana School as well as volunteer students from Year 11, the campers were able to make their inner Picassos shine and make exciting discoveries concerning art, and themselves.
